Pelmets
Pelmets are an over treatment that can be used very effectively over the top of your curtains as an alternative to decorative tracks - as a finishing option that beautifully frames the window. Pelmets also look great over blinds as they hide the brackets and control mechanisms. Have you considered covering a slim line pelmet (say 100 mm deep) in the same fabric as your roller blind? Looks fabulous and so minimalist! Pelmets complete the look and provide the perfect finish to your window coverings.
We manufacture a variety of pelmets in sizes and styles to suit any décor. Our pelmets are fully upholstered, using timber with a foam underlay for the fabric – they are not made from soft product like cardboard. The result of our fully upholstered hard pelmet is a quality professional looking product that will not sag and lose its shape. The amazing choice and variety of coordinated fabric colours and textures can provide visual interest without having to produce a fancy shaped pelmet – often a simple straight pelmet shape provides enough visual impact if the correct choice of fabric is used. Of course we can also make the more traditional pelmet shape if that is more appropriate for your décor. There is nothing like the look of a pelmet to complete the framed look of your window, no matter what the shape or style. Pelmets are also fantastic for insulation. They provide a “cap” over the top of the curtain or blind that will provide an effective insulation seal preventing heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter. The latent heat loss and gain through glass is higher than most would realize. Pelmets are an effective way to assist in the energy efficiency of your home. When it comes to effective light control you cannot beat a pelmet to achieve this. Placing a pelmet over your window treatments effectively stops light “spill” over the top of the tracks, and blocks the light from entering the room. (Think hotel room.) Whilst there are other things that can be done in conjunction with a pelmet to achieve light control, a pelmet in itself will make a significant difference. We have often used pelmets in rooms where our clients have a high level of sensitivity to light, such as a bedroom. Pelmets can be used very effectively in children’s bedrooms to stop them from waking up early (remember in Queensland the sun gets up at 4:30am in summer!).
